Entry #3 Slanted Report
What a world we live in today. Nowadays it just seems like finding an article that talks about a person like the president can be difficult. Slanted New/Reports can be described as another form of being biased towards something or someone, to make that person or situation seem bad. It's an effective way to catch and make a new type of audience.
An example I came across was when CNN covered a story on President Donald Trump allegedly attacking African American professional football players for being "African Americans". Although he did call out the NFL players it had nothing to do with their skin color. He called them out simply because along with him, and lots of people around the nation felt like kneeling at the time was a sign of disrespect towards people who are currently serving and served. Why were the players kneeling? At the time racism was at its peak. Kneeling or standing in silence before a game was a way for players to protest against racism. After releasing the story the President received a crazy amount of hate. Regardless he was already hated by many. But when that article came out, it was literally game over for him as he was being attacked for everything and anything.
Why did we mention CNN. Anyone can tell you that CNN is a consistent outlet that contains a whole load of slanted headlines and news reports. Lots of people around the world talk how CNN went from reporting news to "distorting it". Throughout the years CNN has had to apologize multiple times for coming up with articles with completely false allegations. Which makes them look extremely bad, on top of that loose lots of viewers.
An example of a time when CNN had a host/contributer apologize was when Jake Tapper had to apologize for a misleading claim about Medicare. According to the article Jake had made false allegations towards Bernie Sanders and Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez.
It is good I just don't like how it ends. You have your entire report as an attack on Trump, but at the end it is just not that.
ReplyDeleteI think you provide a lot of great examples. you make it clear and easy to understand the only thing i would change is your conclusion could be stronger.
